New glasses to help Jax's dyslexia & dysgraphia! We had him tested to see if he was having tracking problems while reading. Sure enough...he was and although this is a slight prescription it made a HUGE difference!
Below is the the exercise the Doctor told Jax (all of us to do) for 2mins. every morning!

Jax looks very smart in his new glasses! It's good to hear that they've given him a bit of a breakthrough with his reading: I work for a social enterprise that runs a reading scheme for dyslexic children and I know how damaging it can be to a child's confidence to struggle with learning to read.
In some instances, reading difficulty has more than one underlying cause; there's an overview of the 7 main ones here:

I hope some of it is useful to you - and best of luck to Jax on his learning-to-read journey!
I'm not sure how I stumbled across your blog but am glad I did. I have a 22-yr old daughter who was diagnosed with Irlen's Syndrome, which is also a form of Dyslexia, at the end of her 10th grade year. Many years ago it was called Scoptic Sensitivity Syndrome. She used the color overlays and her school (in TX) used colored paper in her colors (peach & purple) for her handouts, but we never did the glasses. Your post made me wonder how it would have helped her. She's in college now and still occasionally uses the overlays but tracking is almost a non-issue for her now. Sorry for the rambling but I just wanted to say hi and good luck with his new specs!
Thanks for the info Rachel!
Queen, I am hoping he will acutally wear the glasses. I am glad your daughter is doing well in College. I am back in College again and wow I really have to watch my reading! It runs in the family for sure :-)
Thanks for stopping by!
Oh and I LOVE rambling.... I'm a TEXAS GIRL TOO ;-)
